This has probably been addressed elsewhere on the forum, but I haven't found it after poking around for a bit.

I am flying IAD-BRU-IAD for work next week. The upgrade to Polaris using miles (not PlusPoints) is 15k each way with no co-pay. IAD-BRU is waitlist and BRU-IAD is confirmable now. Reading the fine print (excerpt below) when I select the option to waitlist for IAD-BRU I note that they will try to clear me for Polaris, but if I don't clear in Polaris and do clear in Premium Plus, United will refund me 5k difference. I have two questions:

1) I have zero interest in Premium Plus. I want Polaris or nothing on the eastbound. Is there a way to WL for only Polaris and not Premium Plus? (calling rez vs. online?). Right now there are 15 Polaris seats and 9 Premium Plus on the map.

2) Can I remove myself from the waitlist on the eastbound on United.com? If I haven't been upgraded by T-24, I may just back out. I want to check out the PL and preorder my meal, two options I won't have if I get a battlefield upgrade.

If neither upgrade clears, we'll refund the full amount of 15k miles + $0 per person. If only United Premium Plus clears, you'll receive a refund after your flight for the full amount we charged today, and then we'll charge 10k miles + $0 per person for the United Premium Plus upgrade.
