OP should have asked to upgrade at airport using its Qcredits instead of requesting a complimentary upgrade. Airport upgrades usually work well (and are available at almost all QR destination), as long there is a seat available in J (and enough catering but that isn’t usually a problem). It’s a far more easy way to upgrade than to try to find upgrade availability in advance after booking the ticket.
