I have usually received an upgrade at a LHW when booking directly through LHW.com as a Leaders Club member. Never to any kind of palatial suite, but usually a notable view upgrade in say Switzerland. But this is about the same as I get using Virtuoso too... a one category upgrade at my Langham Boston stay for example. I think it really is a lottery. There are just too many variables.
