I'm flying several flights between capital cities in Scandinavia and I'm wondering if I can gate check my luggage at the gate desk instead of the check-in desk.
Most of the flights are on small aircraft so I'm assuming most boarding and deplaning will be from the apron with stairs. The reason for my question is that I carryon a well packed, to TSA standards, bag and would like to reduce the risk of losing my luggage for any of my flights. Although the bag is a carryon, it's too large for the carryon restrictions on the SAS flights I'm taking.

I've read all that's available on the SAS site and done several searches and can't find any information.
I'd appreciate insight from someone that has done or seen a gate check on SAS flights that are not TATL.
