Award fare bookings are allowed because they are not revenue fares (but they will still be partner, not DL, coded). Also, unlike Skymiles tickets within US, or international awards to/from US/Canada where there are many different award levels which vary by route and multiple award fare buckets, Skymiles awards within/between other countries still have simplistic award structures (in the case of flights within EU -- 10K miles for coach, 25K miles for business).
