Trains tend to jiggle with some swaying at times. The metal wheels on metal tracks means imperfections and switches cause occasional roughness that has to be absorbed by the train cars' springs, air bags, shock absorbers, and seats. I have found it difficult too read at times. Trains start and stop slowly and are quiet compared to an airplane. No earplugs needed for the engines..
