Well if you consider charging a £1 extra whilst pocketing £140 not a cash grab then fair enough.
For the dates in question,LHR-LAX in biz is 90K Avios +£225, which requires £190 to be paid to UK Gov.
DUB-LHR-LAX is also £225 (plus 15K more avios + £1), on that flight there is no £190 to pay to UK Gov. There is some DUB airport related fees to be paid, maybe £40-50 ?
There is no option I could see for either itinerary to part just £1. One wonders how the £225 was arrived at ?
I'm guessing this isn't exclusive to starting in DUB and is the same for starting anywhere outside the UK.
