Showing it though your wallet window can be perceived as you have something to hide.

There are some hills not worth dying for, and this is one of them.

Until Marriott can adopt better technology like Hilton or Hyatt, where you don't even have to interact with another human (even aboard where passports are required), volunteer the ID/passport, and you can be on the way to your room in 30 secs or less.
