I love some of the comments on the view from the wing post about this, likely from current or former FAs, to the effect of "if you knew what we had to deal with, you'd do this too", "we don't get paid enough for this", "we have to deal with Karens all day", "entitled customers"…
You chose to have a job as an FA. No one forced you to do it. Apparently there is something that you found appealing enough to sign up for – perhaps the lifetime travel benefits not only with the company you work for but also substantial discounts on other airlines, cruise lines, etc. for life. Serving customers during a flight is the part of the job that earns you those benefits. If you don't like the job, don't do it. No one is forcing you to be there. If nearly any of us who are not FAs barricaded ourselves in our office/cubicle to have an uninterrupted non-work-related chat/meal/play games on our phones, we would probably be reprimanded the first time and fired the second. If you can't handle dealing with the public and see the need to do this, please quit and go find another job.
