I had this happen with a basic Hyatt Place in Kansas. In my case, I had an offer for a cash back promo on my Chase card. It was valid when I made the prepaid rate but would have expired by the next week when I made my stay. When it did not charge my card, as it stated, I protested. The hotel did charge it; I got my cash back, and completed my stay. Definitely hotel dependent, but also annoying. I really hate having to "work" for something that I follow the T&C on, and Hyatt is one who makes us do this.
