I have to say I was not overly impressed with my recent LP experience. I think the ground experience continues to be a big draw, but the inflight experience continues to fall short of expectations and in a lot of ways I wonder if Business is better from that perspective, especially for these short overnight flights.

For the IAD-CDG flight, my biggest complaints were the service and food. We departed 2/4, but the single LP FA really struggled to serve us both in a timely manner. My fellow passenger was an elderly French female “VIP” who demanded a lot of attention (like, help me pick a good movie to watch…) such that I didn’t even receive my first beverage until after an hour after takeoff. About halfway through the meal service, I was getting so impatient that I had to ring the call bell to receive the next course, and at that point the FA was seemingly replaced by another colleague. My other complaint was the food; not very good and actually was word for word the same menu as last October.

For the CDG-DXB flight, we left 4/4, and the service was much better but still you could see the stress in our single FA’s eyes trying to keep up with the demand of a full cabin. Meal service took about half the flight! Why no one helps is beyond me. I really wish they had a floating FA who could help where demand was needed. Food was wonderful as one would expect out of Paris. Wines were very good, but have not really improved as promised, but the option of a 3rd red is nice.

Ground service was mostly fantastic aside from the “are you actually flying First Class?” question I got asked in line at Dulles after awkwardly standing there for five minutes. On the day of departure I was proactively called by the LP line in Paris and the LP team at Dulles about a 1.5 hour delay impacting my flight to Paris. And of course I was well tended to in the CDG lounge, but it was very busy in the late morning hours. As a side note, they really need more lounge style seating because those wall benches are not comfortable to sit in for more than a few minutes.

I’ll attach some food and beverage pictures shortly and will post the full trip report once the trip is over.
