I did mean active young people and crowded bars. It can get rowdy depending on the night but not unsafe IMO. There are also lots of homeless people sleeping on the sidewalk too, if walking to said loud bars is one of the activities you planned to do. Personally it is not the vacation vibe I am looking for so I always avoid it. I only brought up the nightlife because you mentioned you will be there with family staying in two rooms. I won't categorize the location as family friendly - just my opinion, of course. It is fairly close to the ball park though, if that matters to you.
