I asked out of curiosity after being bus-boarded from the farthest C-gates, returned by bus after the aircraft went tech then faced an indeterminate Safwa-wait before the promise of a new marathon to the bus gate.
It meant that four recent connections through Doha gave me the joy of 11 scenic bus-rides round the airport. The buses can take odd routes: tantalisingly approaching the terminal only to veer away for a giddy jaunt back towards remote regions.
I'm hoping to break my run of remote stands and bus gates later this month.
I felt exactly that way coming from DUB in August. We literally circled the whole airport, it was a solid 20+ minutes from the bus started moving to drop off, which really Pi$$3d me off since I only had a 2.5 hour connection and wanted some time in the lounge for a shower and to enjoy dinner there so I could sleep on the entire following flight. I ended up in the lounge so late (due to transfer security too since all bus gates apparently get it) that I could only grab a few things from the buffet vs. the al a carte menu. Yes it was enough to fill me enough to ask for my meal at the end of the flight but was more rushed than should have been thanks to that ridiculous drive around the entire airport.
