I think the reference to Qatar outstation lounges is referring to the Qatar Premium lounges such as LHR, BKK, SIN etc. They are absolutely best in class, BKK is on the top of my list. On the other side of the coin we have the contract lounges, some of which are dire. I'm looking at you Swissport lounge in ORD terminal 5, nominated by Lucky from OMAAT as the worst lounge in North America.
As far as robotic service it could also be categorized as consistency, so many of the crew are not native English language speakers and they are obviously well trained to be consistent. I've had many interesting and meaningful conversations off script at my seat.
I know how the OP feels, QR has a wonderful product.
