FWIW - I would never pay an increased price to reserve an electric car. In the past ~6 months, every Avis I've been has electric cars and they gladly give them away when asked and even seem perplexed most times I ask for them. For example, last week, I was at a large Avis location and was preassigned to a relatively basic 300. I asked for the Mercedes electric car that has ~30 miles on it (only other electrics on their lot were the Hyundai & Kias). The employee was shocked that I'd want anything to do with it and happily changed the car to the MB.
Having spent too many weeks this summer flying into IAH, can attest that Avis - IAH gladly offers EVs - Chevy, Hyundai, Mercedes-Benz, TESLA - with no minimum battery charge required.
BTW, IAHt, how did the M-B drive? If I could get past driving up to a client's location in a M-B, I'd love to try it.
