Where you book has never mattered.

The only thing that matters in terms of triggering the credit is that the charge comes directly from a qualifying resort.

So regardless of whether you book through the main Hilton site or the resort's own site or another OTA or over the phone, etc., as long as it's a "normal" rate that the hotel will charge you directly for it will trigger the credit.
