Neither is it possible to get Premier anymore if one holds select (though this was permitted for a period after Premier was introduced).

Best practice for folks actively using IHG who hold Select is to keep it, then apply for the Business card, which has Premier's benefits and fee; which can be held alongside Select, and which doesn't report to the credit bureaus.
