October 2023, JFK - CPH Dinner Service (Butter Chicken with Rice and Green Beans, Potato Salad with Mixed Vegetables, and a Lemon Blondie)
At a first glance, the meal looked quite fresh due to the bright color of the green beans that came with the butter chicken, a stark contrast from the usual overcooked, drab olive colored vegetables in airline meals. Aside from being too salty, this is one of the best tasting meals that I have had on Delta and an improvement over the ones that I had back in 2019. The chicken wasn't overcooked, the sauce was well flavored, and while the rice was on the soft side, it wasn't mushy. Even more surprising was that the potatoes in the salad weren't the hard, undercooked rocks that they usually are in the Delta first class meals that I have had. I didn't miss the salad or crackers and cheese that used to come with the meals. That said, I do think the portion sizes could be bigger if they are going to remove those accompaniments.
October 2023, JFK - CPH Pre-Arrival Meal (Egg and Goat Cheese Calzone)
While the slightly larger size was nice, in terms of taste, this was inferior to breakfast sandwich options that have previously been offered. In particular, the egg and cheese filling was dry and chunky.
October 2023, CPH - JFK Lunch Service (Chicken with Gnocchi and Spinach, Potato Salad, and Vanilla Ice Cream)
My impressions of this meal were similar to that of dinner on the way to Copenhagen, though this one wasn't quite as overly salted, and the gnocchi a tad rubbery.
October 2023, CPH - JFK Pre-Arrival Meal (Asian Chicken Spring Roll and Chocolate Salted Caramel Delice / Brownie and Mousse)
This was one of the better pre-arrival meals that I have had on Delta. Other than the shell not being crisp, the spring roll was pretty decent and filled with a mix of chicken and vegetables. Dessert was a nice changeup from the usual cookie or ice cream cup.
