Sadly those days and fares are long gone, £800 in Y and £4000 in Club is the norm ex AMS. A great shame as UK-South Africa is one of the routes where BA direct makes some sense over an indirect routing.
That said my next couple of trips are on a combo of ET, SV, MS as I can't justify a £2k+ premium for direct!
