AA crews are of course not as polished in this sense as say CX or QR, but I typically don't find them that bad.
I've had 2 overnight flights this year where I've ended up in row 1 (PHL-ZRH and JFK-LHR) and it wasn't an issue.
That said, on the very long overnight flights to and from AKL I would probably stick with what you've got in row 3/6, purely because on the 789 there's no real advantage to row 1 (other than getting drinks 2 or 3 mins quicker).
Thanks mate. Pretty much as I've read then. Is it true AA never shuts the curtain on the L1/A side isle and keeps galley lights on fully? If that's true, is that a security thing?
