There is no difference between business class passengers, BAEC Gold card holders and OWEs in the short haul boarding process with BA. Every one of them board in/with group 1, so on "status heavy" routes there are a lot of people boarding "first".

Regarding the lack of space, do you mean in the business section or for the whole plane?
