It’s been unusual, but I do remember a few hotel check-ins over the last few years in US/Europe where I was not asked for ID.

Also it’s becoming more rare for me to have to hand over a physical CC. It seems more often that they just ask if I want to use the same card that I made the reservation with, or to use the terminal on the counter to take the card details.
