From my experience, the protocol seems to be as follows:
AF
- Welcome drink rarely (only on some flights as a small bottle of water);
- Cold meal created by a French chef (with real cutlery);
- 2 options of sweet options after the meal (biscuits, chocolate etc. depending on the season);
- Cold refreshing towel in a plastic package;
KLM
- Welcome drink in a glass;
- Hot towel service;
- Cold meal in a Wanderbox (with cardboard cutlery);
- Hot snack / sandwhich after the meal;
- Tea/coffee in a porcelain cup and usually a small plate;
If KLM would have offered a hot meal instead of the Wanderbox it might have a very solid business class product on longer European flights, far above Air France when it comes to the smaller details that actually makes it feel like a more premium experience.🤔
What is your take on this, which product makes you feel more like a premium passenger when you fly longer European flights?
Since when do you get a welcome drink in a glass and hot towel on short haul flights on KL
Other advantage of AF in short haul: champagne.
