In China the frauds were so rampant that couple years before Covid, many chain hotels in Shanghai and Peking already put in such practice, using Facial Recognition to make sure the guests who booked the room ACTUALLY stayed in their booked rooms, not just showed up for check in then left because they sold the reservation to others due to they were elites (so the bookings enjoyed elite benefits) or they had FN certs to exchange for $, whatever.
Fraud is not the issue here. Wrong interpretation since it’s mandatory for any level of accommodation.
