One of the emails I received for my new green card contained a link to activate and add it to my account.
YAY! The former worked. At first it didn't bc the only card it would get through the first step with was the one I didn't have the 4-digit code for yet. So I tried again. Here's what worked:
I went to Paypal, wallet, add card, link to Amex, added older Amex card that was actually already in the wallet (4-digit number requested), had to add code from email to amex site, then add code from text to amex site. Once that older card was in, I was able to start the process over again and add the new card without the 4-digit number. Did a dummy charge and it went through. Naturally I realize now that I cannot pay my big bill via paypal (they used to offer that). Got an extension, so that's helpful. But I wanted to let you all know the process I went through.
