Only Y, B, and K class tickets on BR are eligible to be upgraded with UA miles. So first step would be to upfare to one of those booking classes (and ideally check for upgrade availability before/while doing so, though that process has become quite the crapshoot as discussed in the main *A upgrade thread). Then use the *A upgrade tool on the UA website (which I always access through a quick Google search) to request the upgrade.
