I think I will revise my previous post, as the reasons to take the monorail are less convincing than I originally thought - bmwe92fan pointed out that the bus runs every 4 minutes these days - After 8pm they run every 8 minutes, I think. I've waited longer than that in the past, but I think they were less frequent once upon a time.

Looking at journey times, I am not even sure if Monorail is significantly faster. It makes one stop on the way to T2. I think the best advice is just to take the bus ... unless you dislike buses... in which case you have the option. I have to say, I have a phobia of crowded buses like the one I recently experienced at NRT Terminal 3, shortly before the last trains, but my experiences at HND have been OK.
I know how you feel. The worst transportation experience at an airport for me has been Hong Kong Airlines hard stands in HKG where the entire plane is put on a single bus to the terminal, all classes and everyone smashed in together. Just as long as they can get the doors closed....

But no such issue at HND. The interterminal bus at HND is really easy and plenty of space for luggage. It is basically on grade so you can roll your luggage right on.
