I concur, most likely it is phantom.
If you have the miles I would attempt booking DFW-ORD-TYO. It will most likely fail but if it goes through, then call in and ask to drop DFW-ORD.
It is not likely to be married segments because married segments IME are only enforced between segments on the same carrier. Since these are two different carriers I doubt it is a married segment issue.
