I would agree with the advice to avoid going through the UK unnecessarily.

I don't have much to else to add except that he may not want to go home 4 times a year and he may not want you to visit so often either. When he gets to 25-30 years of age is when he may start to want to see parents more often.

At least that was the case for me and my friends (British / Australian Asians). Maybe Americans are different
