I currently have the SW Performance ($199 AF, opened 10/25/2022) and SW Premier ($95 AF, opened 11/26/2022) and also debating whether the $199 AF makes sense for us. My wife has the same two cards with similar open dates. We're a family of four so we both get the companion pass. I'm thinking of canceling the SW Performance now, before the AF, and keep the SW Premier for another year and cancel before the third AF.
From my understanding, we need to wait 24 month after posting of the SUB bonus before reapplying. So, we'll reapply in Jan/Feb 2025 for our next set of SW cards to get our 2025-26 CPs. Does this strategy make sense? Or should I pay the AF another year to prevent being on Chase's naughty list?
Yes, I cancel just before the one year mark.
We have about 650K WN points so paying the AF on any SW card for a 2nd year isn't worth it for us.
My wife and I get CP every other year but assuming you are 4/24 or less and SW doesn't change the rules your plan should work.
We apply in November the year before we want CP to start and complete the spend in January and thus get the SUB the following year.
For example my wife has CP until 12/31/2024............in November 2024 I will apply for the cards and complete the spend in early January 2025 giving me CP from January 2025 to December 2026..
