Just returned from Jiuzhaigou. Generally WeChat Pay worked well but there were a few instances where Alipay & Tour Card were still necessary.

When booking a Taxi in Jiuzhaigou via DiDi, you need to place a deposit before the DiDi app will let you make a booking. There are no regular DiDi private hire cars there so you have to call a taxi. For the deposit, DiDi will only accept WeChat Pay or Alipay. DiDi registered Credit card is not an option. Furthermore, neither Alipay or WeChat pay linked to credit card would work. Only Alipay linked to Bank of Shanghai debit card I.e. Tourpass worked.

Vending machines in Jiuzhaigou would not work with WeChat Pay linked to a credit card. WeChat Pay said that it required a linked debit card only. Again Alipay/tourpass was the only way to get the machine to work.
