Here's a quick question for veteran KLM GUC users: any past rhyme or reason to more Z bucket inventory opening up as we approach a flight? Interestingly, the Tuesday prior and after that week have plenty of Z last I checked, and while I know EF's 'seat map' isn't always perfectly accurate, there's only 11 of 38 business seats showing as taken. For about 3 weeks I was tracking every day about 21 separate days surrounding my flight, and I did notice sporadic adding of Z-bucket to many other days, but none on the day I want.
Anyway - just curious if others who've studied this in the past have seen more Z inventory come available within ~5 months of flight date. Thanks in advance!
Yes, with 5 months to go its very possible Z reappears. Its also possible that it doesn't. I personally don't ever book flights that I cannot upgrade immediately. But Z on AF/KL is a fare bucket that comes and goes throughout the year. Example, I booked CDG-SIN this past summer. I got the GUC applied with only Z2 left. Two months later I was checked again as I was considering a flight change and behold that Z2 flight was now Z9. So yes, it does happen.
