when you pull the engine fire handle on a transport category jet, the following happens (generally):

1. shuts fuel valve to engine (engine stops)
2. shuts off engine hydraulic pump/valve closes
3. shuts engine pneumatic valve
4. arms fire suppression system (engine fire extinguisher)
possibly more, depending on make/model
