Customer guidance update
Upthread there are some posts on rebooking policies for BA ticket holders with travel to or from Tel Aviv (TLV). In essence they are
- Refunds in certain scenarios
- Rebooking to future dates
- Rebooking on LHR and LTN (Luton) services with El Al
- Rebooking on other El Al services via other European cities.
- (informally) taking you off a booked flight and holding the reservation until more information is available.
There is a new set of options now available involving the Israeli airline Arkia, IZ. This airline doesn't service London, but does serve Athens, Larnaca and Barcelona, locations where BA have many flights. So you can now build a BA + IZ schedule. For example if you have LHR-TLV, this can now become LHR-BCN-TLV. Catch: it's for economy only since IZ is a one class airline, but you can agree to downgrade to economy. This is for 125 plated BA tickets where at least one TLV sector is before 1 November, but I imagine it will get extended. If your Hebrew is a little rusty you best use sites like ITA / Google Flight so see availability, their own website appears to be Hebrew only.
even thou we had AA issued tkts this is something that should have been done once "War" was declared at a min once they flew the 167 back to LHR on 10/11 (or 11/10 depending where one is based) better late then never or at least they should have said OK you can change a TLV-LHR-NY to say ATH-LHR-NY and the TLV-ATH is on your dime. Telling he customer we will let you cx your return for a refund just doesnt cut it as they are licking their lips at selling you a very expensive 1 way tkt from XXX-LHR-NY. I understand it takes time to work out arrangements with other carriers especially non-OW, but theres no excuse for not allowing a different starting city and letting the customer get there on their own dime
