Thanks!
Hotels in Qatar are generally inexpensive for the region. There's no sales tax.

Hilton is well represented, though none of the Doha hotels is particularly exciting. A lot depends on your Hilton status though: upgrades and free breakfasts can boost Hilton's appeal.

If you want luxe you have the Waldorf with quite scary prices.
If you want a city beach you have the Hilton, but the beach, and an executive lounge are really all it has going for it - unless you are also into night time entertainment.
As a simpler lodging the Hampton usually offers good value, and it's close(ish) to the souq, corniche and the two big museums (Islamic art, and national museums)
There's a Doubletree almost next door to the Hampton, with higher levels of service and good perks for status-holders...in return for higher rates.
Close by is an Embassy Suites which brings little to the game except nice enough rooms at not-so friendly prices.
A second DT in al Sadd is off the usual tourism circuit but close to a pretty vibrant commercial area and has a metro station nearby. Usually priced around the same as the earlier-mentioned DT.
There are others, but (for me) location and price rule them out.

All in all, Hilton Doha properties are generally fine if you are Diamond, maybe Gold. If not, you might find greater value (location and rates) elsewhere.
