Unfortunately, it seems that more and more airlines are in cahoots with passengers to make flying that much worse.
I remember a TK flight from Hong Kong to Istanbul in 2013 wherein a J class passenger took a call during descent.
Gulf airlines now seem to allow calls, and I suppose some EU airlines could permit it these days.

Awful in-air regression.
