Capital One does a poor job tracking best rates on hotels, car rentals, flights which is the root problem. Add the failure of Capital One to have the same availability of hotels and flights shown 3rd party sites and even direct login to hotel or airline. Several hotels I cannot not even access from Capital One travel portal.
Then add Capital One demand to only book via the travel portal while Chase CSR, AMEX Plat, Citi World--all travel cards who give $250-$300 travel credit do not. Chase CSR, AMEX Plat, Citi World allow allow easy usage of CC with any merchant as long as it's a common major carrier.
Capital One not only attempts to overcharge by not being accurate of prices but requires constant price matching to get fair value of competitor prices.
Sad---- Capital One marketing makes gimmicks like this but then AMEX PLAT does alot of tricks with it's online $50 credit shopping gimmicks.
I've had Capital Venture X for 2 years and Capital One constantly reduces the benefits each year. Loss of PP dining credit 8 months after card launch, worsening rule of $300 travel credit usage, and suspect a new AF increase coming Jan 24.
Plus, which I have never used and find difficult to access is 5 lounges C1 has in select cities not on west coast. And it increased SUB 70-->75k-->90 after I signed up.
Still a good card but with gimmicks that a smarter marketing department would have made more customer friendly like $300 travel credit usage options.
