Do you think I could get a few avios for this?
I flew ORD-FCO in J on a BA-issued ticket paid for in cash two months ago. The IFE in my seat was unusable and I reported it to the cabin crew. The cabin director (purser on AA? I stopped keeping track of these titles) apologized and filled out a form, and assured me that an AA staffer would call me within a couple of days. To my amazement an AA employee did e-mail me shortly after the flight to apologize. Here's the kicker: even though only my BAEC number was in the booking, he went to the trouble of finding out whether I had an AAdvantage account, and he credited it with 7.5K AA miles. I thanked him for the gesture and pointed out that those miles were useless to me since my AAdvantage account had had a zero balance for at least a decade, and I was unlikely to earn any more AA miles in the foreseeable future. I hinted that a cash voucher or a voucher for a free domestic ticket would be more useful, but he wouldn't budge.
