Completed another stay here over the weekend and thought to update on what the hotel is offering.
Positives:
- W branding was very on-point - including the scent, music, decor.
- Was upgraded to Fabulous King Pool View at check-in
- Very very comfortable bed. Probably one of the better beds across the Marriotts in Singapore
- Views were great, 24/7 pool was amazing, spa was perfect and breakfast is top-notch. The hard product was really solid
- Was given a box of macarons as the in-room amenity. They were great
Negatives
- No more elite hour benefits or free drink coupons at Woobar. I had to call W/W to confirm because this was omitted (intentionally?) at check-in. This was also not stated upfront in my communication with the Insider. W/W mentioned over the phone that the only elite benefits are the "points, local gift or breakfast"
- Hotel shuttle has been discontinued (concierge says that it's been the case "since COVID" so I guess the hotel is cutting costs). The Sentosa buses still come regularly but the one-seat shuttle to the casino/theme park and subway station was nice
- The bartenders at the Woobar were surprisingly stingy. I ordered a glass of wine (for $20 no less) and it was barely a full pour (he just poured whatever was left in the bottle). I pointed it out to the staff and they begrudgingly brought over the bottle to top it up. To remove elite hour + cut back on portions really felt like a double punch.
Overall it feels like the hotel is using its "resort" status to cut back on certain benefits and perks (or maybe because I am just a lowly Titanium). Customers seem to be largely clueless tourists and local families who are here for the resort feel without knowing what the hotel could have offered. There were also a lot of wedding events (and their guests) during the stay - probably why they can afford to cut back on serving their loyal customers. Despite the very good hard product, I will still think twice before coming back again.
