We didn’t have a “bad” stay, but I didn’t think it stood up to either a.) other luxury hotels in Paris like the Peninsula or b.) other high-point Hyatt redemptions like Maldives, PH Tokyo, and PH Kyoto.
Didn’t love the dark decor and lighting, which made me feel like I was sort of in a basement. Just personal preference of course.
we were in an “executive park suite” which had a massive bathroom and closet but was otherwise just a room with a small seating area (not a suite).
Spa/gym was quite tiny and many steps below other hotels or this caliber.
Breakfast was pretty solid but there were several service misses. Also I thought it was funny how they drew the curtains down at 10:30:00 on the dot.
there was significant road noise from our room, and several one-off issues (elevator broken, no hot water).
Overall, glad I checked it out but won’t be returning for $2k+ or 40k+
I fully understand your points.
Just a few comments after 75 stays at the PHV and checking in again tomorrow (but not in love with the property and now staying more often at the HdL instead):
It’s a bit unfair to compare PHV to the Peninsula or other Parisian
palaces (which yes have better hard and soft products) as they are significantly more expensive, you can’t redeem points nor earn any.
Executive suite have a separate living room so you should have been in a Junior or Deluxe one?
Agree on the strangely huge bathroom/dressing vs actual bedroom (particularly the age if in a standard King Bed room).
