just this week in Malaga reserved Lux sedan MBZ E class for big $$$ and was given a GLA suv. Guy said it was an upgrade not sure how a car that’s smaller and costs 40% less is an upgrade. Was given that choice or a A3.
Going back to Avis or Sixt next time
I think officially an A4 is lower than the BMW X1 because I think they consider SUVs to be better than sedans, and the X1 is typically priced more than the A4 class (at least in North America. I agree though that the for the A4 it should be at least the BMW X3 as the X1 is cheaper than the A4.
The second example you gave is a downgrade for sure, but the first one may officially be an "upgrade"
