YVR SS datapoint
I have been to the YYZ SS about 10 times, both before and since COVID, and most recently about a month ago, and have always enjoyed the quality of the food and the service in the dining room area. Last week I had the opportunity to try the YVR SS for the first time.
On arrival upstairs, there was no-one at reception. Since there is no 'Please Wait to Be Seated' sign, I seated myself. That seems to have been a mistake.
I then waited 30 minutes before someone figured out I was there and brought me a menu.
I ordered food, but had to actively ask for a drink.
Then starter and main course arrived together.
I had to ask again for a second drink.
The staff in YYZ seem to be long-term staff (certainly the hispanic gentleman who is usually in the dining room was there pre-COVID). The YVR staff seemed, by comparison, junior and frankly clueless.
I was totally unimpressed with the experience. It was stressful and amateurish.
