Listen, I am the worst trip report writer. Posting this first edition at the Club at LAS. Before a redeye. Help.

October 15th, 2023

The iPhone goes off at 4am. Dogs awake and agitated. After feeding... a quick shower and Espresso.

Every trip for me begins with an hour drive to Grand Rapids. I avoid flights before 7am because of where I live. This is part of my airline thesis.


Roast my Honda CRV. I dare you.

After an hour of loud music, half a gallon of water, and internal screaming, we end up at GRR - Gerald R Ford International Airport.

For those of you who don't know, GRR has gone through a MASSIVE expansion program.. but not in UA's concourse.

After 5 minutes through precheck, grab some provisions and end up at the gate for the flight to Chicago.

Yes. I am flying GRR-ORD. Why?

Wife picked up the car the next day. She was in Phoenix and LAS... and will meet me in TPA on the 21st.

After a while, boarding resulted in PDBs being served. Shocked that they had water, orange juice and sparkling wine. Better than DL to DTW...

My world is shook that someone served alcohol on a 30 minute flight.

After a 30 minute flight, ended up at the B Concorse at ORD.

Now, roast me if you want.. I do not and cannot get UA or DL Credit Cards. I pay for UA Day passes or DL year passes to the lounges...

The best lounge at ORD is the newest, C10. Parked my butt there for 4 hours until my friend told me his Amtrak from Kalamazoo came in.

After that, Uber to the Thompson Chicago. Favorite hotel, right near the shopping.

Oh the shopping. Hit up Shinola, Mont Blanc and Ralph Lauren to get some provisions.


Confession time, walked out with 5x refills for my Mont Blanc pen, new business card holder... but always ask to try a Geosphere on. Found the one I like... soon...

After that, had dinner at Rooh and ended up closing the Londonhouse Bar with a politician. We don't disclose details here.

October 16th, 2023.

Woke up hungover but ready for business.

Today is a visit to Salesforce Chicago.

DL Domestic Beef Short Rib. Not as good as the UA Polaris short rib when I was extremely intoxicated meeting Oscar... but... it was good.


Made it. Passed out at the Golden Nugget Quickly after a street Pizza.
