I ate at Earl's and SS in Toronto a few days apart from eachother early on this year.

I thought Earls was right on par food-wise, and ahead of the SS on cocktails. But I'd give the edge to the SS on the overall environment, dessert presentation, and service (despite the lack of experience being evident, as Adam noted). I've been to the Toronto Earls several times and it seems almost a given that something that was ordered will go missing.

The real problem with the SS, though, is the lack of food options. Last time I was there there were, what, five mains? For that reason alone I've been more inclined to go to The Hearth and put up with that zoo if I'm going to eat at Pearson.
