While both FFD and Chelsea can have their good days and so-so days, they are both still arguably about the nicest lounge experience you can get in the US on any carrier.
Agree with this.
I will add that I took a leisure trip in May with AA FF legs transatlantic both ways:
CLT->DFW->LHR->NAP
NAP->LHR->JFK->CLT
You are flying through LHR it seems.
For what it's worth, my on board dining experiences were good on the TATL flights, but not the overall quality of the lounge meals. I did have lobster on the plane which wasn't available on the ground, though. Everything I have read here and elsewhere would suggest the food is better in F on BA and I would have booked BA to/from LHR if I had the chance; I didn't since it was an AA award ticket and no F availability on BA for AA awards.
I ate at FF dining at DFW and the Chelsea Lounge at JFK on that trip. I also (highly recommended) went to the Cathay Pacific F lounge at LHR and ate in the dining room there on my way back home. That food was at least on par with if not better than FF dining at DFW and Chelsea at JFK. I don't know if you get access to all of the OW F lounges on a FF trip like this - I would have gotten in as an EXP anyway even in Y as complimentary OWE - but someone else here surely knows the answer to that question.
Chelsea and Soho have imo better feel and atmosphere and are prettier, windowless Chelsea notwithstanding. That said, the actual food at DFW FFD was a few steps up from Chelsea imo, as was the wine selection. Liquor good at both. Johnnie Walker Blue at FFD, but there was a $225/bottle retail scotch at Chelsea when I was there too. Other liquor selection is very solid. They rotate booze through at both I believe.
If you are going round trip do both like I did! Take the overnight from DFW or MIA going out and take the short hop to JFK coming back in.
