I just flew CDGSIN on the new 773 and I must say the new cabin is wonderful. Very pleasing design. The new seat is great just as good as BA or CX (the only advantage of CX is the retractable armrests which is only an issue if you are very wide), and nicer materials than the plasticity of UA/AA.
I can't agree that service is better elsewhere. I think it is just a matter of taste. If you want fawning asian lovelies to make inane small talk with then CX or SQ are the go. AF service is perfectly correct, more formal. I like the fact that they keep their distance. There is a decent range of french newspapers and periodicals, often sadly lacking on SQ and CX. Airline food is airline food, and compared with what's out there AF is as good as it gets. No vulgar novelty value of caviar, but a good 5 course dinner including a mini boite of foie gras. Breakfasts as lamentable as on all aircraft. Pajamas quite style compared with the CX fancy dress ups! CDG lounges already mentioned, agreeable but nothing extraordinary, IDEM SIN lounge which is QF/BA with very QF food - their idea of canapés = mini meat pies!
If connecting SIN>CDG>LAX (then I hope you are stopping in Paris on the way out!) you only need to clear customs (cursory) if you want to visit the arrivals lounge in 2C, but equally there are showers available in 2F. The arrivals lounge has clothes pressing and arguably a better breakast offer. You might as well do this as the before customs navette to other terminals can be frightful in the morning, and it is not very far to walk from 2C to 2F.
Enjoy your flights
