It is what AA advertises. So I can't fault someone for expecting it to work.

However, I prefer this quasi-as-advertised option to no holds or only 24 hours, so as long as you handle it knowing it may not work for partners for the full time, it's great.

If it was all AA then they would be able to reinstate the reservation. Since it is a partner award, they'll have less options.

Agree with both of these. It definitely cannot hurt to ask, albeit with limited expectations.
