Since you have the email documenting the date that the reservation is on hold until, you should call AA web services at 800-222-2377. They can look it up with your expired PNR. If it was all AA then they would be able to reinstate the reservation. Since it is a partner award, they'll have less options.
AA needs to request that the partner make the award space available at the same price. In general this is not likely to happen, and is probably less likely since it's not a OW partner in this case. But I would still ask. If you anticipate a long time on hold just plan for that with something to do while on hold... it doesn't need to be a waste of time.
