Bump. I personally don't mind paying for the hotel myself in fact I do not qualify to the hotel program above because I will fly into CAI with EgyptAir but fly out of CAI with Qatar Airways on separate tickets. I just care about the visa and being allowed to pass immigration for one night. Has someone successfully used the visa-free transit option for transit less than 48 hours?
