The last I saw of the phones, they were no longer at the seat, they were relegated to near the gallies. not that I ever saw anyone use them (especially at the prices they were charging)
That is how I originally remember them. They were on the wall and maybe had 2 to 3 per plane, maximum. You had to push in your credit card a certain way, and the receiver would release the phone, which you would then take back to your seat. At some point in the 90s, I think they became the seatback pocket variety.
